Colin Cowherd: USC Is “Out Of Their Mind” If They Don’t Hire This Coach

first_imgFS1's Colin Cowherd.Over the weekend, USC surprised some people with its decision to retain Clay Helton. Many thought Helton would be let go following a disappointing 5-7 season. The Trojans are sticking with Helton for 2019 at least it seems. But FS1’s Colin Cowherd thinks they should pursue another recently-fired head coach for a staff position.Texas Tech let go of Kliff Kingsbury on Sunday after six seasons. Kingsbury finished with a 35-40 record in Lubbock.Despite Kingsbury’s struggles with the Red Raiders, Cowherd thinks he would be a great fit at USC, presumably as offensive coordinator. In fact, Cowherd believes the Trojans have to try and bring Kingsbury in at any cost.“Had a few USC fans come up to me today. Told em all the same thing. If USC doesn’t at least pursue Kliff Kingsbury, they are out of their mind. Pay him whatever it takes. Make him interested. offensive talent is NOT the issue at USC. A smart, young coach is. #Kliffnotes”Had a few USC fans come up to me today. Told em all the same thing. If USC doesn’t at least pursue Kliff Kingsbury, they are out of their mind. It is widely thought that he will either take an offensive coordinator job at a major college program or join an NFL staff.Stay tuned.last_img read more
