first_img Posted: March 11, 2019 Interstate 5 speed reduced for three years Categories: Local San Diego News, Traffic & Accidents KUSI Newsroom March 11, 2019center_img KUSI Newsroom, SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Starting Monday motorists will have to drive a little slower on a section of Interstate 5 on the North County coastline for the next three years.Officials announced Friday that the temporary speed limit reduction will take place on a stretch of Interstate 5 where carpool lanes are currently under construction.The speed limit will be reduced from 65 miles per hour to 55 miles per hour starting Monday in both directions of Interstate 5 between Manchester Avenue in Encinitas and Palomar Airport Road.The lower speed limit will remain in place until the carpool lane project is complete which is expected to happen in 20-22.
