first_img Former NASA JPL engineer Mark Rober has brought some pretty crazy ideas to life — you may remember the glitter-bomb trap that farts on package thieves. For his most recent creation, the YouTuber tapped into his childhood dream of diving into a giant pool of Jell-O.The whole project took a total of six months of planning, and a week of intensive labor, according to Rober. It turns out, it’s not just a matter of dumping a a whole lot of Jell-O into a swimming pool.In the 11-minute video posted on YouTube, Rober explained the process. He used six 55-gallon drums with custom propane burners to boil the water. And because you have to refrigerate the Jell-O mixture, Rober chose a geographic location (Utah) and time of year (April) that would that meant the weather wouldn’t freeze the mixture but would still firm it up. Rober also used a “swamp cooler” for added effect.AdChoices广告The result was every child’s (or teenager’s) dream. Rober even created a Slip N Slide to amp up the fun.
