The Games village will start accommodating athletes by next Monday.Testing of the lawn bowls greens was done by the PNG Defence Force’s bowling club on the weekend.It was a trial for technical officials and the sports specific volunteers to run through and have a feel of the field of play.Team PNG bowlers were not able to use the new facilities as they are training from their provinces and Australia.Six countries will compete in lawn bowls at the Games namely PNG, Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Norfolk and Tonga.The competition will run from the 13-18 July and tickets are selling for ten kina per person for day passes.Golden girl Geua Tau who won the country’s first Commonwealth Games gold medal in 1990 in Auckland, New Zealand is among the team of technical officials who will umpire during the Games.last_img
